ashleefired.jpgIt happens to the best of us ... Mrs. Simpson-Wentz has been cut from Melrose Place, according to Entertainment Weekly. We caught her out shopping yesterday and she didn't seem too troubled by the news. In fact, her co-star Colin Egglesfield was also let go. The show's executive producer Todd Slavkin told the Weekly it was always "... the original plan going into the development of the show. We felt that once the murder mystery [involving their characters] was resolved, the tone of the show was going to shift ... and [Simpson-Wentz's] character would move on."

But there's good news for Heather Locklear who has just returned to the show -- Slavkin told EW Locklear is "... in every episode moving forward. She's a major focus [of the show]."

Still, the series just got an order for 5 more episodes rather than for another entire season. With quick-to-fail series like The Beautiful Life, is the CW hesitant to commit? And why might that be? Because the script is so incredibly sucky? I mean really, I love trashy soaps but Melrose Place is so beyond anything even remotely watchable. I preferred Mischa!
