avatar-movie-poster.jpg James Cameron's Avatar has finally hit the $1 billion mark, according to Variety. Over the weekend the film's international earnings came in at $1.02 billion, which is good news seeing as the film cost over $300 million to make!

Avatar is now the fourth highest grossing film ever, behind James Cameron's Titanic ($1.8 billion), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($1.12 billion) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ($1.07 billion).

Variety predicts that the film should move it's way up and snag the number two spot in the weeks to come.
