MTV Reaches Out To Kanye West For Haiti Telethon, Still Hasn't Gotten A Response

There have been a handful of rumors that Kanye West was banned from participating in tomorrow's Hope For Haiti telethon, but MTV tells us that they have extended an invitation to the controversial rapper! The network released the following statement to X17online:
This seems like the kind of event Kanye would want to be involved in, but after his infamous remark during a televised special for Hurricane Katrina victims in 2004, it seems as though pressure from the public may be keeping him away. As you may recall, Kanye went on a crazy rant during his spot with Mike Meyers, where he vented about racism and plainly stated, "George Bush doesn't care about black people."
A source told AOL's Popeater, "Kanye has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and, well, this night it's just not about him." We doubt Kanye would ever do anything like this again (see the video below), but after snatching the mic from Taylor Swift during the VMAs, maybe he hasn't learned his lesson!
Mike's reaction gets me every time!
Priceless! Would you want to see Kanye appear on the telethon? Even if he's on his best behavior?
- "We reached out to Kanye (through his people) about performing on the telethon. We did not hear back definitively but we DID ask him to be a part of it."
