Hilary Duff may have had her "dream wedding" last Saturday at the San Ysidro Ranch where no detail was spared -- even the pre-nup agreement!

But Hilary, who made a fortune with the Lizzie McGuire franchise, films and albums, may have not been the one requesting the contract. It seems that her hockey-player fiance is the heir to a fortune worth as much as $500 million! That's half a billion, people!

Mike is the son of Canadian business man Bill Comrie, who founded furniture and appliance retailer The Brick in Edmonton. His net worth is estimated at the staggering $500 million. So suddenly Hil's million dollar engagement ring makes sense!

But the pre-nup was an "amicable agreement", a friend tells the NY Post. "They love each other very much and knew this was just a technicality."

Hilary wore a Vera Wang wedding dress to the "storybook" ceremony in Santa Barbara, which cost a reported half-a-million -- which was half of what they apparently made to sell their exclusive story and photos to OK! So really, they walked down the aisle and headed off to their honeymoon with an extra $500,000 in their pocket!

Not like they needed it...
