Peggy Lee to be exact!

The actress won an Oscar for playing June Carter Cash in Walk the Line and now she's pushing to play singer Peggy Lee in a new biopic, reports Variety.

Reese Witherspoon first secured the rights to Lee's story after meeting with Holly Foster-Wells, Lee's granddaughter. Then she went to Nora Ephron, who's attached to write and direct. Witherspoon will produce with Marc Platt at Fox 2000.

Peggy Lee rose to fame in the 40s as a singer and songwriter, which begs the question: Will Reese do her own singing again?!

This seems like a good fit for the star, who'll next be seen in James L. Brooks' How Do You Know co-starring Paul Rudd and Jack Nicholson.
