After 17 years of marriage, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus - parents to tween superstar Miley - are filing for divorce...
The couple, seen on the right walking their dogs together in June 2010, have released the following statement:
- "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."
The divorce papers - filed in Tennessee on Wednesday by Billy Ray himself - cite irreconcilable differences.
Billy Ray and Tish have five children total, and Billy Ray is asking for shared custody of the three youngest. Additionally, Miley's dad has requested the court to approve a "parenting plan" to be signed by him and Tish, as well as decide an "equitable distribution of the marital estate."
