demishowgoeson230.jpgIn response to our earlier report that Demi Lovato's punching bag, Alex Welch, is looking for a public apology after last October's incident that led to Lovato seeking treatment for various "issues," Lovato's rep is now further explaining the legal situation between the pop star's backup dancer and his client.

Demi's rep tells us:

"Demi’s attorneys have had an initial discussion with Mr. Karpel [victim Alex Welch's lawyer]. They are exploring the possibility of an amicable resolution of this matter. We do not plan on making further public comments during this process."

Earlier today, Karpel had released the following statement: "We have contacted the Lovato camp and we are waiting for a response. If we don't hear back, we will pursue litigation."

We read "amicable resolution" as a financial payoff, though of course that will be kept under wraps with a confidentiality clause in their settlement agreement. But really, will it pay for Alex to have been allegedly abused by Demi?
