ronnichasenheadshot.jpgA male suspect in the shooting of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen shot himself tonight when Beverly Hills police attempted to serve him with a search warrant in the lobby of her West Hollywood apartment building.

LAPD spokeswoman Mitzi Grasso says officers entered the Harvey Apartments complex on Santa Monica Boulevard around 6 pm PT and when police asked him to raise his hands before attempting to server the warrant, the man pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the head. He was declared dead on the scene.

The man's connection to Chasen's murder is not clear, as police are not releasing any further information about the suspect.

Chasen was shot to death last month while driving home from an after-party for the Burlesque screening. 911 calls alerted police to gunshots near Whittier and Sunset Boulevard. Chasen was shot five times in the chest with hollow-point bullets and drove her car into a light pole.
