CBS has ordered more episodes of sitcoms Mike and Molly and Rules of Engagement to make up for the absences called by the emergency hiatus of Two and a Half Men.
THR reports that executives were forced to order the additional episodes after Charlie Sheen forced production delays on his hit series so he could seek in-home rehab treatment following a two-day bender that landed him in the hospital.
A spokesperson for CBS says that the network is not reliant on Sheen's show, and that they are "strong and deep with hit series." They went on to say, "Any ratings declines will be more than offset by the reduced programing costs for episodes lost this season."
The spokesperson added, "In addition, Two and a Half Men has always performed well in repeats."
But Two and a Half Men is consistently one of the top shows on television. We can't imagine the loss of several episodes isn't going to be a blow to their ratings.
