gaga072909_01_230.jpgLady Gaga has been a big part of Target's advertising campaign over the past year, and has also offered special editions of her CDs at the retail giant.

A source, however, reveals to The Advocate:

"She and Target didn't see eye to eye on Target's policy of political donations and how they affect the LGBT community."

Just last year, Target felt pressure after it was revealed they donated money to a committee called MN Forward, known for supporting antigay political candidates.

Before calling it quits with the company, Gaga had said the following to Billboard magazine about her partnership with Target:

"That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I've ever had in a business meeting. Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they've made in the past ... our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they've made supporting those [antigay] groups."

Gaga didn't feel that Target was living up to their end of the deal. Her publicist released a statement confirming the split. Hear what her people had to say ... after the jump.
