Mel Gibson has opened up about his crazy life to Variety. Until now, he had only done one interview since his drama surfaced with ex Oksana Grigorieva.

The actor is currently at Cannes where he has been busy posing shirtless and smoking, but hadn't done any interviews for his film The Beaver, directed by Jodie Foster.

The film reportedly got a standing ovation at Cannes; Gibson's performance has been well-received by critics. “They [the audience] seemed to appreciate and like it," he said. "You could hear people sniffling, so I think they were affected by it.”

Gibson subtly related the film to his own life, saying:

“It’s about the length that someone will go to to survive. We all go through things that are hard to bear at some point or other, and we have to get through it.”

As for commenting solely on his personal life, Gibson said:

“About life, oh boy. You don’t want to hear about my three-ring circus.”

Well, he got that right.
