Gerad Butler hit the Malibu beach over the weekend, where he was both healthy and unhealthy: the actor worked out by surfing, but then took a smoke break!

Smoking is never smart, but Gerard looks happy. And Gerard, 41, does look good in his wet suit! He stopped for a snack, chatted with a friend and hit the waves.

He was also spotted with a mystery girl that day. But when the two saw photogs, she took off down the beach -- away from Gerard!
