Chris Brown really is a double-threat - no, we're not talking about his anger management issues. The singer will continue to add to his acting resume when he stars in the upcoming romantic comedy, Think Like A Man.
As unbelievable as it may seem, Brown was actually cast in a romantic comedy. The movie is a film adaptation of Steve Harvey’s 2009 best-selling self-help book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.
The comedian, 53, originally wrote the tome to give women advice on how to better understand the men in their lives and cut out the drama.
Though its an adaptation, the book will actually be front and center in the film version – the movie features four friends whose love lives get shaken up after the women they’re interested in pick up Harvey’s book and take its advice to heart.
Think Like A Man, also starring Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall and Lala Vasquez, will hit theaters April 2012.
Brown’s life, however, has been the opposite of a romantic comedy. The 22-year-old was famously arrested on domestic violent charges for abusing his then-girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009. He claims he’s been trying to control his anger management issues since that incident, but he hasn’t been doing a very good job in public. In March 2011, he threw a chair through a dressing room window after being asked about Rihanna on Good Morning America.
More recently, he’s been under fire for going on a homophobic Twitter rant during an online war of words with Raz-B of the now defunct R&B group B2K.
This casting is essentially make or break for Chris. Though his radio singles are generally well-received, his fourth album, F.A.M.E. didn't make much of a splash when it dropped this past March, and he was pulled out of the majority of promos for Takers last year.
We'll see if this rom-com will be the saving grace Chris needs to keep his career afloat.
