Don't mess with Twilight.
Summit Entertainment just made that loud and clear. The production company announced Monday that they have taken legal action against the individuals allegedly responsible for leaking Breaking Dawn photos in March.
While the investigation is ongoing, Summit believes the leak came from Posadas, Argentina, and Daiana Santia is being singled out as one of the members of a group believed to have stolen footage of the film.
The international investigation has led to civil charges being field in the United States and Argentina, and criminal charges in Santia's home country.
David Friedman, Summit Entertainment's Executive VP and general counsel, said in the press release:
Even though studios are generally upset when photos and footage are leaked, few go as far as Summit has and pursued legal action. But part of the appeal of Twilight is seeing how true the movies stay to the book, so the turn of events makes sense.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 will hit theaters November 18, while Part 2 is set for a November 16, 2012, release.

Rob was so angry that pictures from Edward and Bella's honeymoon scene and Bella's transformation into a vampire were released that he encouraged fans to take a call of action. He told MTV News:Summit Entertainment just made that loud and clear. - “While we very much appreciate the legions of committed fans of the franchise and encourage them to create community online, we cannot ignore that property was stolen. It is not fair to the majority of fans that want to see the final chapter of the Twilight Saga film franchise fully realized by the filmmaker and dedicated cast and crew to have these images out and available on the Internet.â€Â

- "It's just ridiculous. I literally can't believe that it happened. I want the Twilight troops to mobilize, all the good fans, and find out who these little sh--s are and just hack into their computers and destroy them. ... I'm being genuinely serious, Twilight fans."
Summit was as upset as Rob, and they released their own statement. Stephenie Meyer, Bill Condon, Wyck Godfrey and Summit Entertainment wrote on the official Facebook page:
- "The film and these images are not yet ready or in their proper context. They were illegally obtained and their early dissemination is deeply upsetting to the actors, the filmmakers and Summit who are working so hard to bring these movies to fruition to you in November 2011 and November 2012.
Please, for those who are posting, stop. And please, though the temptation is high, don’t view or pass on these images. Wait for the film in its beautiful, finished entirety to thrill you."
