The Puss In Boots actress was recently among those named by President Nicolas Sarkozy in his official New Year's list to be honed with the Légion d'Honneur, the five-tiered honor academy with the grade of Chevalier or "Knight," it was announced on Sunday.
Hayek will receive a formal induction, which involves a Presidential pinning reportedly taking place within the next twi months at the Élysées Palace.
The Legion of Honor award, which was founded by Napoleon in 1802, is given to military personnel and civilians for service to France, and those of international standing -- Selma's hubby, Billionaire Fracois-Henri Pinault, is French.
Hayek's father-in-law, Francois Pinault, was also promoted in the same list to the Legion's exalted rank of Grand Officer.
Past recipients include Jerry Lewis, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford and Robert De Niro.
