After coming to the rescue of a young girl earlier in the day, Jennifer Lawrence slipped into a sexy black maxi dress and had dinner with mom Karen in Santa Monica last night.

The 21-year-old actress was seen carrying a bottle of wine and some to go boxes as she waited at the valet, and she briefly chatted with our photographers and revealed that she's excited to begin shooting the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire.

Though it was rumored that filming would begin this summer, we're now hearing that it isn't set to start until September. Many of the scenes will be shot in North Carolina, and it's being reported that the Quarter Quell footage will be shot on Kauai during the final three weeks of production. Not a bad gig! Hopefully J. Law has plenty of bikinis and maxi dresses -- we have a feeling she'll be spending at least a day or two each week lounging by the pool at some posh resort!
