Angelina Jolie has opened an all-girls in the Kabul section of Afghanistan, according to E! News.
The 37-year-old Oscar winner/UNHCR Goodwill ambassador reportedly picked the region due to its high refugee population, and because it is an area that normally favors male education over female education. The school is already open and educating between 200 and 300 girls, and Angelina said in a statement that she plans on opening more schools using the proceeds from her soon-to-be-released Style of Jolie jewelry line.
“Beyond enjoying the artistic satisfaction of designing these jewels, we are inspired by knowing our work is also serving the mutual goal of providing for children in need,†Angelina said.
Jolie's jewelry line, which she co-designs with Robert Procop, will go on sale this week, and 100% of the earnings will be donated to her new initiative, The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.
