On Wednesday the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), calling it unconstitutional to restrict federal marriage benefits to same sex couples. “DOMA singles out a class of persons deemed by a State entitled to recognition and protection to enhance their own liberty,†the ruling read.
In California, the court lifted a 5-year-old ban on same-sex marriage by declaring that the ban's backers lacked standing to challenge lower court rulings against it, and celebs have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the rulings.
