Leah Remini has filed a missing persons report with the Los Angeles Police Department for Scientology leader David Miscavige's wife Shelly, who hasn't been seen in public for more than 6 years.
"Our missing persons unit informed us that Leah Remini did file a missing person report on a Shelly Miscavige," a spokesperson for the LAPD said. "That is all we are going to say at this time."
The Church has previously stated that Shelly is not missing, and veteran Scientology reporter/former Village Voice editor Tony Ortega claims she's living at a private Scientology compound outside Los Angeles. However, things could get interesting, because now that authorities are involved, the Church "may be forced to produce Shelly Miscavige, or if they don't, the police might just decide to go up there and look for themselves," according to The Atlantic.
Remini made headlines last month when she left the Church of Scientology, and last week she revealed that she's writing a tell-all book! "It will include my experiences, everything that's taboo to talk about," Leah told Us Weekly at the 15th annual DesignCare event in Malibu last weekend. "It's a time of change. I think the fact that my family has taken a stance and we are on a united front says a lot."
