Michael Douglas And Catherine Zeta-Jones Separate

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have separated, reports People Magazine.

The couple, who have been married since 2000, have two children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, but lately they've been going on separate vacations with their kids. They haven't been photographed together since April 22, and Douglas is currently on a yacht off the coast of Sardinia while Zeta-Jones is home in New York.

Zeta-Jones was admitted to a treatment facility earlier this year for bipolar disorder, and in 2010 Douglas battled cancer. “The stress has taken a toll on their marriage," a source tells the mag.

Apparently the A-list couple decided to take a break after Douglas came back from the Cannes Film Festival in May. Two separate sources reveal that the couple are "taking a break," adding that neither star has filed for divorce and that friends "hold out hope they can work out their differences." One family friend added, "They want the best for their kids, no matter what happens."
