Wow, she means business! Leah Remini is set to testify against the leader of the Church of Scientology, David Miscavige, in a multi-million dollar harassment lawsuit against the organization.
Apparently, Monique Rathbun, who is married to ex-Scientology former executive Marty Rathburn, filed the lawsuit in August this year, which also includes a restraining order against Miscavage. Over the summer the Dancing with the Star contestant made headlines with her very public exit from the controversial church and has subsequently spoken out about the celeb-studded church. In August, the former King of Queens star went to the police to file a missing person's report on Miscavige's wife, Shelly, who had not been seen in public for over six years. Police later confirmed that Shelly was "alive and well."
The news of Remini's testimony against the church comes as no surprise, as she has been a vocal about her issues with the organization since her rift.
According to the lawsuit:
- "[Rathbun] has been subjected to numerous, aggressive attempts to intimidate her … She has been targeted at home, at work, and anywhere else that she happens to be …She has been harassed, insulted, surveilled, photographed, videotaped, defamed, and humiliated to such a degree as to shock the conscience of any decent, law-abiding person."
Wow. Those are some pretty severe claims.
Remini is set to give her deposition on October 15th in Los Angeles, which Rathbun’s attorney confirmed to Scientology watchdog website The Underground Bunker.
