Chantel Jeffries Insists She's Not The Desperate Bad Girl The Media Is Making Her Out To Be

Justin Bieber's new lady friend Chantel Jeffries is livid over online reports that she has a lengthy rap sheet, and in between sucking up to Biebs and posting sexy selfies on Instagram, she had some time to speak out and clarify her sketchy past. As you may already know, this is the chick who was riding shotgun in Bieber's rented Lamborghini when he was busted last week for driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving on an expired license.

The New York Daily News and The Daily Mail claimed that the 21-year-old hottie was arrested a total of five times (including busts for assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving), but her lawyer Matt Morgan said that her misdemeanor assault charge was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. Other than that incident, which occurred when she was 18, he says she's only had "traffic violations."

Chantel added in a statement to E! News:

"I have been overwhelmed by the negative attention I have recently received in the media. My family and I are particularly upset about the false accusations which have been published concerning my criminal history. For the record, I have not been arrested five times as has been stated in the media, nor am I guilty of physically assaulting anyone, in any way shape or form. I am a full-time student who had enjoyed a normal lifestyle, free from public scrutiny and criticism, until now. What has happened to me is wrong. I want people in general, and the media in particular, to consider the impact their disparaging comments have on the individual; especially when their comments are inaccurate."

Jeffries is also denying claims that she was trying to sell Bieber out after the NY Post reported that she “trying to sell her story for $20,000 — but abruptly pulled out of TV interviews after spending the weekend with the 19-year-old pop star in Panama.”

A spokesperson for Jeffries said, “Chantel's attorney and I received multiple appearance requests for Chantel, as you can imagine. None were for compensation, especially not $20,000. None were accepted. The Today Show was the only one that was being even remotely considered, and they do not pay for their news.”

Wonder how long she's going to last with Biebs? If it's not Selena, he has a habit of ditching chicks pretty quickly...
