Is art imitating life in Coldplay's new video?!

In the band's new music video, "Magic," recently separated Chris Martin plays a lovestruck magician’s assistant who sings about a "broken" relationship. Could the lanky Brit be talking about his failed relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow? We think so!

In the black and white video, directed by Jonas Akerlund, a magician's assistant (played by Martin) in a traveling circus becomes enamored with his beautiful mentor, played by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Zhang Ziyi, but who is being abused by her husband (also played by Martin). The magician's assistant must use his magical powers to win her over and stop her cruel husband.

The lyrics, “Call it magic/Call it true/Call it magic/When I’m with you/And I just got broken/Broken into two,” reference a man getting out of a failed relationship, leading fans to wonder if the crooner is lamenting publicly over the high-profile breakup.

The song is the first single from Coldplay's upcoming album, Ghost Stories, which is to be released next month.
