It's no surprise that NBC’s newest late-night star, Seth Meyers, will host this year's Emmy Awards.

Seth recently left the NBC institution Saturday Night Live to take over for Jimmy Fallon on Late Night. The peacock network with air the Emmys live from the Nokia Theater on Aug. 25.

“Seth’s expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on SNL and Late Night, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of latenight and alternative programming.

Seth hosted ESPN’s Espy Awards back-to-back in 2010 and 2011.

Recent Emmy hosts have included NBC’s other new late-night host, Jimmy Fallon, Jane Lynch, Jimmy Kimmel and Neil Patrick Harris, most recently. Why can't Tina Fey and Amy Poehler just host every single awards show? They're also part of the NBC family, after all.
