It was Pharrell Williams' night at the B.E.T. Awards in Los Angeles tonight, as he beat out competitors to take prizes for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and Best Video, for "Happy."

Drake beat out Jay Z for Best Male Hip-Hop Star. But Jay and wife Beyonce took the prize for Best Collaboration for "Drunk In Love" and Beyonce won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.

A recently-released-from-prison Chris Brown had his fingers crossed for prizes in three categories - Video of the Year for "Fine China," Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and Video Director of the Year. He performed his latest single "Loyal."

This year's it-girl, Luupita Nyong'o won the Best Actress prize for her role in 12 Years a Slave.

August Alsina took home the award for Best New Artist and Lionel Richie was honored with a Lifetime Achievement award.

Chris Rock hosted the show, calling it the "black World Cup."
