Screen Actors Guild Awards Trumps Oscars With Diverse Pool Of Winners, #SAGSoBlack

The Screen Actors Guild honored a diverse pool of actors and artists Saturday night at the 2016 SAG Awards, giving two statues to Beasts of No Nation star Idris Elba, who didn't get so much as a nomination for the Oscars prize. His SAG Award for best supporting actor in the Netflix-produced film was accompanied by a prize for his role in the TV movie/miniseries category for Luther.
Orange Is the New Black took two awards -- one for best ensemble cast; the other for female actor Uzo Aduba; transgender-themed Transparent and The Danish Girl also won a prizes. African-American actress Viola Davis won for her role in How To Get Away With Murder for a second year in a row. Queen Latifah took the award for best actress in a TV miniseries/movie for her role in HBO's Bessie.
After Academy Award nominations were announced January 14, revealing the painful lack of diversity a the Oscars, the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite started trending and practically took over social media.
