What's going on with these two?!

Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger got people talking when they walked the red carpet together at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammys last month, and now they're hanging out making music in the studio. What gives? Are they actually going to get a divorce, or are we witnessing a slow reconciliation?

'I'm so stoked I figured out how to play my mandolin so I learned a Dixie Chicks song," the songstress captioned this photo of the pair, jamming out with pals Stephan Hovsepian and Zane Carney.

The "Sk8ter Boi" singer and the Nickelback rocker announced they were splitting last year, but they certainly haven't been in any rush to formally end their union.

Why do they have to go and make things so complicated?!
