Looks like Madonna's purple reign is over!
Madge tried to get the crowd going with her Prince tribute at the Billboard Music Awards -- but it seems like no one was feeling it. Ouch -- that really hurt our ears!
The material girl, who set high atop her throne, performed last night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and paid tribute to the late musical legend with a not-so rousing performance of "Nothing Compares 2 U."
Then the purple-clad singer was later joined on stage by Stevie Wonder for a "Purple Rain" duet, which was equally disappointing.
Fans took to Twitter to express their distaste for Billboard's selecting Madonna, as well as her tone-deaf performance.
Several commenters on the Twitterverse panned Madonna's underwhelming performance.
We have to say we love how BET threw some major shade at the show and Madonna when moments after Madonna's performance the network took the opportunity to promote their own tribute to the Purple One at their upcoming BET Awards, which will air on June 26.
We have a feeling that BET isn't going to pick an old white lady, whose voice was never that great, to tribute the musical legend ...
