Caitlyn Jenner Is All About Glamour And Glitz In Her Sports Illustrated Cover

Caitlyn Jenner is going for the gold -- but this time it's a gold sparkly jumpsuit, instead of an Olympic medal.
The Olympian-turned-reality star is gracing the cover of the latest issue of Sports Illustrated to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her iconic decathlon win at the 1976 Summer Olympic Games. The headline of the story reads, “Caitlyn Jenner As You Know Her Now, Bruce Jenner As You Never Knew Him Then.â€
Well ... it's certainly been an interesting story to watch unfold ...
In the article, the 66-year-old, who transitioned into being a woman last year, says she doesn't show off the medal, instead she keeps it in her nail drawer and doesn’t bring it out much. “It was great for the kids at show-and-tell,†she told the mag.
The morning of the issue’s release, the brunette took to Twitter to tweet her excitement, writing, "So excited to relive my gold medal journey with @SINow! Can’t believe it’s been 40 years."
While we think it's great that the magazine is honoring the notable athlete, we really have to question the choices for the cover. A glittering jumpsuit for the one-time sports superstar? Maybe dress her in something Olympic looking? Something athletic and not glamorous? Something strong -- like the person she is -- not a glittering jumpsuit? Sports Illustrated is about sports -- not outfits!
We think it's amazing that the mag put Caitlyn on the cover, given all that she's fought for in her life, but this doesn't seem to honor her true greatness. The publication should have just put her in a trendy track suit or something!!
Meanwhile, Caitlyn isn't the only one blazing trails in the magazines ... transgender triathlete, Chris Mosier, is appearing in ESPN The Magazine's's annual Body Issue -- and doing it naked! Chris is the first openly trans athlete to appear in the issue, which features nude portraits of athletes. Chris is also the first trans man to be on the Team USA sprint duathlon men's team, which competed in the 2016 World Championship. Wow! That's a lot of cool firsts!
