People are pissed!
Celebrities took to social media yesterday to take a stand, after President Trump revoked a bill Obama had put in place to protect transgender youth from discrimination in the education system. The federal law, known as Title IX, allowed transgender kids to use bathrooms and locker rooms that fit with their gender identity, regardless of the sex on their birth certificate, and the POTUS reversed that order on Wednesday.
Here are some of the celeb reactions:
- Ellen Degeneres: "Just seeing the news about removing laws protecting trans people. This isn’t about politics. It’s about human rights, and it’s not okay.â€
Ariana Grande: "Protect trans kids."
Brie Larson: "This is disgusting. This is unacceptable. I #StandWithGavin and every Trans person who deserve nothing less than protection and equality."
Lance Bass: "Right now, #LGBTQ students need to know we support them.Share a message of support and put #KindnessInAction."
Emmy Rossum: "THIS IS EVERYTHING WRONG WITH THIS ADMINISTRATION. @POTUS ACTS OUT OF FEAR AND HATRED OF EVERYTHING HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND. #RESIST."
Christina Applegate: "We are all humans having a human experience birthed the same way!to the communities affected,I stand with you. Always and forever."
Kathy Griffin: "Oh yeah! Because #trans students are the REAL threat. Jesus. #LGBT #LGBTQ #wtf @BetsyDeVosED @jeffsessions."
Interestingly enough, Caitlyn Jenner has said nothing! The transgender reality star is an outspoken Republican, despite the party's lack of support for LGBTQ rights. Time to wake up, Cait! The world isn't just coffee runs and girl time with your glam squad. Speak out for your community!
