Embattled studio head Harvey Weinstein has decided to seek treatment for an apparent sex addiction after a flood of sexual harassment accusations have now come to light ... interesting thing is -- he jetted to Europe for sex rehab on Tuesday rather than choosing a place in the US. Hmmmm ...
We're speculating Harvey may have since touched down in Switzerland, which happens to have a no-extradition policy with the US. What does that mean for Harvey? That means, if criminal charges are brought against him, the famously neutral country would harbor him and NOT ship him back to the US to face charges. Want a very similar example? Director Roman Polanski was charged with unlawful sex with a minor here in California and the US requested that Switzerland send him back here to face charges stemming from the 1977 case. Switzerland refused. And the Polish director remains in Europe, in his cosy chalet in Gstaad, with his wife and children.
Speaking of family, Harvey's is leaving him ... Weinstein's wife Georgina Chapman announced she's leaving the movie mogul after ten years of marriage. Weinstein, 65, and Chapman, 41, married in 2007 and have two children together, ages 7 and 4 -- and Harvey has three children from a previous marriage.
Chapman -- the owner and lead designer at Marchesa -- said in a statement: "My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time."
That's odd -- Weinstein said his wife was 100% behind him after the New York Times blew this scandal out of the water: "She stands 100 percent behind me. Georgina and I have talked about this at length." He said that Chapman was helping him become “a better human†and to “apologize to people for my bad behavior, to say I’m sorry, and to absolutely mean it."
Notice Chapman didn't use the word "divorce" -- she said only that she's "leaving" her husband. Is there a chance of reconciliation? Doubtful. Is there a chance she'll file in the next few days in order to lead the money grab from Harvey -- to be at the front of the line, ahead of all the women who will undoubtedly sue? Likely.
