Who would have EVER thought our preeminent scientist/travel engineer/urban planner genius would open up to Rolling Stone magazine about his breakup with a Hollywood starlet?! Who would have ever thought he'd date this Hollywood starlet in the first place!
Well, it's happened - Tesla chief Elon Musk actually discussed his recent breakup with Justice League actress Amber Heard -- Johnny Depp's ex -- in the new issue of RS. He said he's been "in severe emotional pain" since the split and he addresses just who did the splitting: "I was really in love, and it hurt bad. Well, she broke up with me more than I broke up with her, I think."
Musk, 46, and Heard, 31, called it quits in August after dating for a year. But the show must go on for Elon and he discussed having to launch his awesome new Telsa 3 model as he suffered the emotional fallout from the breakup: "It took every ounce of will to be able to do the Model 3 event and not look like the most depressed guy around. For most of that day, I was morbid. And then I had to psych myself up: drink a couple of Red Bulls, hang out with positive people and then, like, tell myself: ‘I have all these people depending on me. All right, do it!’"
The innovator says being single KILLS him: "Going to sleep alone kills me. It’s not like I don’t know what that feels like: Being in a big empty house, and the footsteps echoing through the hallway, no one there — and no one on the pillow next to you. F–k. How do you make yourself happy in a situation like that?"
Musk has a somewhat odd romantic history -- he's been married three times, twice to the same woman. But Amber wasn't ready for another wedding after her messy divorce from Depp. The actress go a divorce settlement of $7 million after claiming the actor was physically abusive to her. And if that weren't headline-grabbing enough, Heard is bi -- as in bisexual -- or multi-sexual or whatever. She tried to explain to Allure for the beauty rag's December cover story: "Everyone told me: ‘You cannot do this ... And everyone said, ‘You’re throwing it all away. You can’t do this to your career." So she replied, in her defiant, young star sorta way, "I cannot do this any other way. Watch me."
Watch her, we have ... from her scandalous outing of Depp as an alleged drinker/abuser to her quick-start romance with one of the richest men on the planet, Heard has been in the news consistently for the past year and a half at least. And pix of her holding hands with her girlfriend years ago, before she married Depp didn't hurt her tabloid value either.
At the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's (GLAAD) 2010 event, Heard "came out," but she says she was never "in": "I didn’t come out. I was never in. It’s limiting, that LGBTQ thing. It served a function as an umbrella for marginalized people to whom rights were being denied, but it loses its efficacy because of the nuanced nature of humanity. As we become more educated and expand the facts of our nature, we keep adding letters. It was a great shield, but now we’re stuck behind it."
She went on to say that sexuality shouldn't have labels and that she doesn't "identify as anything. It’s so important to resist labels. I don’t care how many letters you add. At some point, it’s going to spell ‘WE ARE HUMAN."
So there you have it -- sex and love from two of the most disparate humans on the planet that actually happened to hook up! If they can get together, ANYONE can!
