Actor/comedian Kevin Hart was in a serious car accident early Sunday morning in which a friend who was driving careened off the road into a ditch in Hart's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. Hart and the driver, Jared S. Black, both suffered major injuries in the accident on Mulholland Highway. Black and his fiancee Rebecca Broxterman -- Hart's wife Eniko Hart's personal trainer, were both trapped in car while Hart went for help.

The Jumanji actor, 40, is currently hospitalized and undergoing tests to determine if he'll need surgery to repair his back. TheBlast reports doctors are optimistic Hart will make a full recovery.

The police report says Black was tested for intoxication and found not to have alcohol or drugs in his system. He was pinned in his seat by the crushed car roof and the fire department had to free him -- he was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center.

Hart gifted himself the vintage muscle car for his 40th birthday -- it has a Hellcat V-8 Hemi engine. Just hours before the accident, the Night School star posted an Instagram Story video in which he revved the engine and screeched the tires. The person shooting the video is heard telling Keving to "cool out."
