Ben Affleck flew home to celebrate the Fourth of July with his family, as he's suffered some seriously bad press during the filming of his upcoming Batman vs. Superman in Detroit.

As reports claim Ben's been doing as much gambling as he has acting, the father-of-three headed home to see the family and celebrate the holiday. He packed up the team and headed just up the street from his home to the Pacific Palisades for the town's annual Fourth of July parade.

Ben gave daughter Violet a lift, while Jen carried son Samuel and little Seraphina hoofed it on her own. The family found a seat on the curb and watched the passing floats before taking their bikes back to the car to head home.

Our photographer on the scene tells us: "Ben looked happy to be with his kids. He was smothering them with attention, but he was a little cold with Jen. She wasn't exactly affectionate with him either. Their interaction was definitely icy."

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are set to tie the knot at San Ysidro Ranch over the Fourth of July weekend, and X17 photographers snapped these photos of the wedding preparations today. From the flowers to the leafy walkway, the location looks stunning!

Party rental trucks arrived on Thursday to deliver chairs, golf carts, tables and plants, and while everything was being arranged, Simpson wasn't anywhere to be seen but her hubby-to-be hit the Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara with pals and future father-in-law Joe Simpson. Crews were setting up the tents and tables on Friday morning, so if the singer is thinking of walking down the aisle today, her planners better hurry it up!

Last night there was a rehearsal dinner, and a photographer on the scene tells X17online:

"Jessica's family and friends gathered for dinner on the hotel grounds under a tent. Ashlee and Evan were there and Jessica's parents and all of Eric's family. It was low-key but absolutely beautiful."

The pair originally planned to wed on the Italian isle of Capri, but after realizing that it might be a bit of a hassle, they decided to have the ceremony in California.

Simpson and Johnson started dating in May of 2010 and they got engaged in November of the same year, and they have a daughter Maxwell and a son Ace.

Sir Bob Geldof is finally speaking out after the death of his daughter Peaches in April. Her overdose left two young sons Astala and Phaedra motherless -- and now the music man is saying that he wants his grandsons to grow up away from the "soap opera" that is the Geldof family.

"For 40 years, for good or ill, the family has been part of the national soap opera and I never expected that, and a lot of people think they know us and in some ways they do know parts of us," the Boomtown Rats performer said during a televised interview.

He added, "My life has also seemed incredibly episodic, like a soap opera."

The Brit said he doesn't want to bring Peaches' young sons, who were 11-months-old and 23-months-old when their mother died, to be in such an unhealthy world.

"I don't want them becoming wrapped up in the Geldof life. It's great in some respects, it's appalling in other times and things," said the protective grandfather.

Three months after her death, the 62-year-old says he is still breaking down uncontrollably but that playing music is helping him cope with the great loss, which he says is "intolerable."

Geldof also lost his first wife Paula Yates to heroin overdose in 2000.

Kaley Cuoco is celebrating the Fourth of July like any true celebrity -- by leaving the country!
