Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Brooke Mueller was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold just days before child protective services took away the former couple's twins and granted temporary custody to Sheen's other ex-wife, Denise Richards.

Mueller was put on a 5150 at the UCLA Medical Center under the Californian Welfare Institutions Code (this is the same process Britney Spears went through in 2008 before being put under a conservatorship), and a source close to the Mueller family told Radar, “Brooke was taken to the medical center on Wednesday night, after she was deemed to be a threat to herself and to others. She had been using drugs for days and was not in her right mind. It was a very sad, sad situation. Once Brooke was admitted, her doctors notified the Department of Children and Family Services and action was taken by the agency immediately to get her children legally out of her care.”

Mueller is still being held at the hospital, but according to Us Weekly she's grateful that Richards is looking after 4-year-old twins Bob and Max. "Brooke is really not in good shape at all. She is not opposed to Denise having the kids - that's her first choice," a source tells the mag.

Unfortunately it's wildfire season again in Southern California, and some of the poshest celebrity pads in Malibu and Calabasas are dangerously close to the latest blaze!

Firefighters are currently battling a series of brush-fueled wildfires off of the PCH, including one that burned right to the beach in Ventura County and another that was pushing towards a number of homes in Malibu. The combination of high temperatures, low humidity and brittle brush created a recipe for disaster, and on Thursday an eight-mile stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway was shut down as flames raced down hillsides toward the Pacific Ocean. On Friday there were 6 separate fires, and the largest blaze (dubbed the Springs Fire) grew to 10,000 acres and was only 10 percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention.

Stars like Justin Bieber and Britney Spears have massive mansions that sit on one end of the fires near Calabasas and Thousand Oaks, and the Malibu hills homes of stars like Brad Pitt, Barbra Streisand and Steven Spielberg touch the southern tip of the blaze.

Back in November of 2007 many of the same stars were actually forced to evacuate from the area when the infamous Corral fire destroyed over 50 luxury houses and burned through 4,650 acres of land. Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea lost his million-dollar mansion, while Minnie Driver and Matthew McConaughey were evacuated from their houses.

“We are asking members of the public to be very aware: This is very dangerous,” said Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Tom Kruschke. “This is still a moving fire. If you were asked to evacuate, it will be a while before you are allowed in. And if at one point you are uncomfortable, please leave the area. It’s not safe to stay.”

Musical talent evidently run in Nicole Richie's family.

Richie made a stylish appearance on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show today to promote her new web series #CandidlyNicole.

The Fashion Star judge, who donned a sexy pantsuit with a plunging neckline and sported a new, sleek bob, discussed her AOL reality series based on her Twitter feed. She also gushed about her musically inclined children. She later played a bouncy slide game called "Boomerang Blitz" with fellow guest Ellen Pompeo. Now that's letting your hair down.

Richie said that her three-year-old son Sparrow, who's perpetually on tour with her rocker dad Joel Madden, organizes daily talk shows, followed by meet and greets, for the household.

"I actually work out of my house so everyone that works in the house, everybody has to go downstairs to the kitchen," she told Ellen. "Joel's his bodyguard and Joel says he's very busy and he stands on his steep stool and he goes 'I'm very busy, but nice to meet you.' And we go stand in line and we shake his hand and you take a picture with him."

Gabriel Aubry picked up his daughter Nahla from school yesterday in LA, while his pregnant ex-girlfirend Halle Berry landed in LAX.

Little Nahla had a spring in her step as she pranced down the street, hand-in-hand with her dad. The doting father looked elated as he watched his dancing queen walk on.

Aubry and Berry recently reached an amicable custody agreement in court. They had been embroiled in a high-profile custody battle over Berry's desire to move to France, Berry's current fiance Olivier Martinez's native country. Aubry and Martinez brawled outside Berry's LA home last November. Both were treated in a hospital for their injuries.

It's good to know that Aubry's strained relationship with his ex and her fiance hasn't interfered with his one-on-one time with his five-year-old.

Goldie Hawn is giving women a quarter her age a run for their money!

The 67-year-old actress stays fit and healthy by biking regularly. Goldie looked radiating and was smiling ear-to-ear during her mid-day workout in Brentwood yesterday.

Goldie and her identical-looking daughter Kate Hudson are the brand ambassadors for Almay's current Mother/Daughter Beauty Campaign. While promoting their ad, Goldie discussed her love for vintage fashion.

"Today's style is all over the place," she told People.com. "These designers were coming out with prints and edgy ideas. The hip-huggers in the '70s were the best era, they came up over your hip, lower in the front and back and it was just flattering and beautiful and extreme. It was pretty fabulous."

Well, her bike riding getup certainly looked retro.

The Smiths go to Taiwan!

Will Smith and son Jaden jetted to Taipei to promote their film After Earth yesterday. The pair play a father and son in the sci-fi thriller, which hits U.S. theaters on May 31. In the futuristic flick, Jaden's character travels across an inhabitable, post-acopocalypic Earth to recover their broken spacecraft and, in turn, rescue his father.

The duo signed autographs, posed for photos, and met with fans yesterday. They will appear at another promotional event, which will reportedly involve the film's title being lasered onto the city's tallest skyscraper, later tonight.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesman for Sony Taiwan said the Smiths refused to enter and leave event venues through special exits and even asked organizers to lengthen tonight's red carpet in order to sign more autographs. Take that, Tom Cruise!

After Earth marks the second time the two have costarred together -- the family that works together, stays together.

Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart went shopping in Beverly Hills on Friday afternoon. The actors were in high spirits as they left Fred Segal with several bags in tow.

The family-oriented couple attended the Huggies Snug & Dry and Baby2Baby Mother’s Day Garden Party last weekend with their daughters, three-year-old Billie and 16-month-old Georgia. Dane's former Grey's Anatomy co-star Ellen Pompeo, Busy Philipps, Sarah Chalke, Selma Blair, Rachel Zoe, and Molly Sims were among the other celebrity parents in attendance. Abrams' latest installment of the film franchise is the first 3D Star Trek movie ever, and the director told reporters on the red carpet, "Sequels often do that where they kind of start and assume that you care. So we really had to say 'forget it, start over.' Of course knowing that fans of Star Trek are vocal and passionate and so if you are fan of Star Trek you will see things that will be rewards and references you will get, jokes you will get but you don't need to have seen it before."
