Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis were never legally married, but the two were together for 14 years. Since the announcement of their split yesterday, one question looms ... how will Johnny's assets be divided?

Depp's net worth is roughly $350 million, with his annual salary reaching $100 million thanks to his films like Pirates of the Caribbean, which have contributed to a yearly box office gross of around $3.1 billion in America and $7.6 billion worldwide.

Then there are custody and child support issues coming into play, as well as potentially shared assets such as bank accounts and investments they may have.

According to Kelly Chang Rickert, an LA-based attorney who specializes in family law, California doesn't recognize common law unions so no marital law can be enforced and only a paternity case can be filed, leaving property to whomever made the initial purchase.

As for custody, a judge would likely decide on a 50/50 split, according the Rickert, depending on where the parents reside.

If international law comes into play, that can make for an entirely different case, with regards to custody and property rights. Or if the split is as "amicable" as the couple's reps would have us believe, they could settle it all without a judge and come up with their own solutions. Let's hope it stays friendly!

Today, Katie Holmes was caught doing some shopping in New York City's Soho district and her adorable little daughter Suri was nowhere to be found!

Hugh only has a few more days in Spain, as it was just announced that he will be hosting New York’s first installment of Tropfest, which is branded as the world’s largest short film festival. Tropfest started 20 years ago in Australia, and it is now an annual event that draws more than 150,000 attendees, so it seems only fitting that Hugh would be involved!

Katy Perry covers the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter, and the pop superstar chats about the media, her career and she even touches on ex-husband Russell Brand.

On her divorce, Perry tells the mag:

"There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I’m about to go up on that ramp and sing 'Teenage Dream.' I had to smack myself across the face and say, 'These problems are my problems, they are not my audience's problems, learn to separate that.'"

On the media frenzy surrounding their split, Perry uses Kim Kardashian's failed marriage to Kris Humphries as an example and declares, “Nobody knows what really happened except the two people who are in it.”

When asked about her religious upbringing, Perry explains, "People love the idea of a good girl gone bad, thinking that my parents were so strict and disowned me, but that actually wasn't the case. Even though they don't necessarily agree with some of the things I do, they love me as their daughter. That's always been their perspective."

"I still have a spiritual base and a spiritual foundation," she continues. "And my conversation with God is very open-ended. I pray for humility, honestly, because it's very easy to be caught up in this world."

Earlier this week, the singer showed the world that Willow could one day be as talented as her accomplished mom when she tweeted a picture of her daughter playing a miniature piano with the caption, "Willow aka Baby Beethoven." So cute!

The 32-year-old mother of one has been infatuated with her bundle of joy since day one so her excitement's understandable. While she had to pull out of a special performance for President Obama's fundraiser due to a gallbladder surgery, it's good to know her one-year-old can entertain her!
