Kim Kardashian isn't staying quiet about her sudden split from hubby of 72 days, Kris Humphries.

The 31-year-old reality star issued the following statement to E!:

"I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

Even though her marriage was short-lived, Kim opted to cite "irreconcilable differences" in the divorce papers rather than asking for an annulment.

The twosome did have a prenuptial agreement.

News broke Monday that Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce from her husband, Kris Humphries, after only 72 days.

The Kardashians and Jenners are staying mum on Twitter about the topic. Kourtney and Kendall have Tweeted about Halloween festivities.

Kim herself Tweeted Monday morning as if nothing was happening, saying, "Our store #KardashianKhaos is opening tomorrow at 9am at @TheMirageLV We are so excited!! Kardashian Khaos has arrived!"

Knowing that fans would be checking her Twitter, leaving up an advertorial Tweet seems a smart business move -- classic Kardashian. But other celebs are not staying so silent.

Only one week ago, while Kim Kardashian's friends denied rumors that she and Kris were heading for a split, Kim herself tried to ignore her marital problems.

Kim Kardashian's impending divorce to Kris Humphries is not only shocking to her fans, but also to Dr. Garth Fisher ... the Kardashian family's longtime plastic surgeon.

Dr. Fisher, who has a practice in Beverly Hills, tells X17online exclusively:

While Kim was busy taping her reality show in NYC, Kris partied Fountainebleau's nightclub and a source on the scene tells X17 exclusively, "Kris was eating up the attention. All these girls were coming up to him and trying to flirt and he loved it, but he was really into this one chick. He kept leaning into her, talking in her ear. She took out her cell phone and was typing into it -- I think she got his number."

After multiple websites reported that Kim and Kris were having major drama, these pictures certainly didn't help paint the picture of a happily married couple. The duo were married for just 72 days, so is it possible that Kris' alleged infidelity was what caused their marriage to crumble? Or was the highly publicized (and televised) romance doomed from the beginning?
