George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis have ended their almost-two-year relationship.
"We are not together anymore. It's very difficult and very personal, and we hope everyone can respect our privacy," the couple said in a joint statement released Wednesday.
They were last seen together in May for the actor's star-studded 50th birthday celebration.
Only a few weeks ago, 32-year-old Canalis told Italian magazine Chi that she was "very happy" with her man, but also said, "I am a firm believer in marriage, in the future I will be married ..."
Clooney has confirmed several times over the years that he will not marry again (he was married once in the early '90s).

LeAnn Rimes and her sexy hubby Eddie Cibrian spent the afternoon in Calabasas ... grabbing a bite at one of their favorite cafes at the mall.
The country cutie, who seems to have lost all of her curves, sported short white cut off shorts and a shirt that read, "No ... is a full sentence."
Eddie Cibrian's ultra thin wifey has been in the spotlight lately with many speculating that she may have an eating disorder. LeAnn seems unfazed, even Tweeting more photos of her bikini bod.

We caught up with Jackass creator Johnny Knoxville in LA on Tuesday, and offered our condolences for the sudden loss of his close friend/costar, Ryan Dunn.
Dunn died in a fiery crash early Monday morning, after Tweeting a pic of himself and his buds drinking at a bar in West Chester Pa, not too far from where the Jackass star grew up.
Movie critic Roger Ebert took to his Twitter to post a warning for those who drink and drive, but his message stuck a nerve.
Ebert Tweeted: “friends don’t let jackasses drink and drive†to his 480,000 followers, which prompted an outpouring of negative responses. Ebert’s Facebook page was immediately removed for violating Terms of Use, but came back online a few hours after.
When X17 asked Knoxville about Ebert's insensitive Tweet, the Jackass star replied, "I don't think too much about that guy."
Officials are awaiting toxicology reports to determine whether alcohol played a role in the crash, or if it was due to excessive speed.

Paris Hilton is a single lady again!
The heiress opened up to George Lopez on his talk show Tuesday night, to set the record straight about Cy Waits, and announce her newly single girl status. Hilton announced:
"We're not together anymore. I love him and we remain really good friends...I feel like the relationship ran its course and we'll see what happens."
Apparently Hilton and Waits had a hard time calling it quits, and decided as recently as last night to officially go their separate ways. A family friend extremely close to the situation tells X17 exclusively:
"Paris and Cy had hoped to just take a break, however after thinking about it overnight, they decided it was best to go their separate ways. Cy is devastated. He wanted more than anything to make things work, but Paris feels they're better off as friends right now."
Breakin' up is hard to do. We wish them both the best of luck!

With a spring in her step and a smile on her face, Maria Shriver made her way through Beverly Hills with what just might be her best accessory yet: divorce papers!
Shriver and soon-to-be-ex hubby Arnold Schwarzenegger haven't officially filed for divorce, but they have been separated since it was revealed the Terminator star fathered a child with a member of the family staff, and reconciliation doesn't seem to be in the ex-pair's future.
While Arnold has been laying low, Maria's been out and about quite a bit. The former First Lady of California stepped out with her kids to attend a U2 concert in Anaheim last Saturday, and Bono gave her a song dedication/shout out!
The U2 singer serenaded Shriver in front of the sell-out crowd, dedicating the song Pride (In The Name Of Love) to her after announcing: "For Maria Shriver who's here tonight.'
