Sir Elton John - who just adopted a baby with husband David Furnish - decided to vent to Rolling Stone magazine about pal Billy Joel's apparent problems with alcoholism.

Here's what the 63-year-old Grammy winner, who went to rehab in 1990 for drug and alcohol abuse, said to RS:

"He's going to hate me for this, but every time he goes to rehab they've been light. When I went to rehab, I had to clean the floors. He goes to rehab where they have TVs.



I love you, Billy, and this is tough love. Billy, you have your demons and you're not going to get rid of them at rehab light. You've got to be serious. People adore you, they love you and respect you. You should be able to do something better than what you're doing now. At the end of the day, he's coasting. I always say, 'Billy, can't you write another song?' It's either fear or laziness. It upsets me. Billy's a conundrum. We've had so many canceled tours because of illnesses and various other things, alcoholism."

In response, Billy Joel told Us, "I've worked with Elton for such a long time and I've enjoyed our relationship too much to let something as random as these comments change my affection for him. Elton is just being Elton."

John also talks about his friendship with rapper Eminem: "When David and I had our civil partnership, he sent us a present... two diamond c--k rings."

And he reveals that super-conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh "was one of the first people to congratulate us on the baby."

John performed at Limbaugh's wedding in summer 2010 for a reported $1 million fee.

X17 has what are believed to be the ONLY photos of Lindsay Lohan wearing the necklace she allegedly stole from a Venice Beach jewelry store owner, which is valued at more than $2,500.

The store owner accused the 24-year-old actress of "stealing" the piece, which led to the filing of a search warrant with the LAPD. The police never had to search Lindsay's new beach pad, however, because a "representative" for the actress returned the necklace to the jeweler.

A source close to Lindsay tells X17online exclusively:

"She didn't STEAL the necklace, she borrowed it. It was understood that she was allowed to wear the necklace for a certain period of time and return it -- that was always the deal. She didn't steal anything and she returned it immediately when they asked for it back."

Rooney Mara busted her butt during a workout in LA yesterday, and it looks like the starlet is serious about nailing the role of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Kenny Ortega is no longer named in the Michael Jackson wrongful death lawsuit filed by Katherine Jackson, but Michael's younger brother Randy isn't offering an olive branch to the This Is It choreographer.

In a statement, Randy says:

"My mother's a very kind and sweet woman, however the Jackson family as a whole does NOT extend any sort of an apology to Kenny Ortega. In their obsession to get the show out, it appears Kenny & AEG didn’t care about my brother’s health & they didn’t inform the family at times driving my brother to tears.

Michael would still be here had they informed his family of the situation. More facts will come out."

Just yesterday, Katherine's attorney released a statement claiming the family "determined that Mr. Ortega should not be a defendant."

Boyle added, "The Jackson Family apologizes for any discomfort or inconvenience this may have caused Mr. Ortega."

Jake Gyllenhaal was snapped arriving at a meeting in Beverly Hills yesterday, and the hunky actor did his best to pull a Leonardo and hide his face, but we were still able to sneak a peek at his scruffy mug. Sigh. Why does he have to be so delicious?
