Matt Damon Denies Squashing 2004 Story On Harvey Weinstein's Sexual Misconduct

Posted on Tue Oct 10th, 2017 2:40pm PDT       By X17 Staff

He obviously wants to clear his name!

Matt Damon denies killing a 2004 story about Harvey Weinstein's sexual misconduct, amid outrage from actresses like Rose McGowan and Jessica Chastain and the public at large.

Former New York Times reporter Sharon Waxman claimed in a report published by The Wrap that she was investigating sexual harassment claims against the movie producer for a piece, when she got calls from The Martian star and Russell Crowe in a bid to squash the expose. Consequently, the story was never published.

Damon claims that Weinstein urged him to pick up the phone, by telling him that the outlet was writing a negative article on his Miramax exec partner Fabrizio Lombardo, and he should simply offer up his own experience working with them.

"My recollection was that it was about a one minute phone call. Harvey had called me and said, 'They're writing a story about Fabrizio ... and it's really negative. Can you just call and tell her what your experience with Fabrizio was?' So I did, and that's what I said to her. It didn't even make the piece that she wrote. As I recall, her piece just said that Russell and I had called and relayed our experience with Fabrizio. That was the extent of it and so I was very surprised to see it come back. I was never conscripted to do anything," Damon told Deadline in a statement today.

Rose McGowan, for one, thinks Damon is in bed with the devil. "Hey @mattdamon what's it like to be a spineless profiteer who stays silent?" she tweeted on Monday.

"Look, even before I was famous, I didn't abide this kind of behavior. But now, as the father of four daughters, this is the kind of sexual predation that keeps me up at night. This is the great fear for all of us. ... We know this stuff goes on in the world. I did five or six movies with Harvey. I never saw this. I think a lot of actors have come out and said, everybody's saying we all knew. That's not true," he said in response to the Scream star's accusations.

"This type of predation happens behind closed doors and out of public view. If there was ever an event that I was at and Harvey was doing this kind of thing and I didn't see it, then I am so deeply sorry, because I would have stopped it. And I will peel my eyes back now, father than I ever have, to look for this type of behavior. Because we know that it happens. I feel horrible for these women and it's wonderful they have this incredible courage and are standing up now. For the record, I would never, ever, ever try to kill a story like that. I just wouldn't do that. It's not something I would do, for anybody," he concluded.

This whole scandal is turning into quite the witch hunt!

Ben Affleck Gets Uncomfortable When Asked About Harvey Weinstein, After Releasing A Statement Condemning The Disgraced Producer

Posted on Tue Oct 10th, 2017 12:50pm PDT       By X17 Staff

He must think he's said enough.

Ben Affleck dropped by his buddhist rehab facility today in LA, and when we asked him about Harvey Weinstein, he got visibly uncomfortable. Earlier in the morning, though, the Oscar winner released a statement about the industry big wig's sexual harassment scandal, and he made it pretty clear he considers that kind of behavior unacceptable. We find it very hard to believe he hasn't known about this for years!

"I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades. The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick," he wrote on Facebook.

"This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others. We need to do better at protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers and daughters. We must support those who come forward, condemn this type of behavior when we see it and help ensure there are more women in positions of power," he added.

Weinstein produced and distributed Good Will Hunting, which put both Affleck and his best friend Matt Damon on the map. Damon has been accused of covering up the allegations against Weinstein all the way back in 2004, by directly refuting various reports and having the damning story killed.

It seems like every Hollywood star is trying to issue a quick statement and then stay the hell away from this!

Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow Accuse Harvey Weinstein Of Sexual Harassment

Posted on Tue Oct 10th, 2017 11:20am PDT       By X17 Staff

Where were they when Rose McGowan was getting dragged through the mud?!

Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow were both sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein earlier in their careers, they revealed to the New York Times today.

Angie claims the movie producer made "an unwanted advance" towards her in a hotel room while she was promoting Playing By The Heart in 1998. She rejected him, but never went public with the inappropriate incident until now.

"I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warned others when they did," she told the NYT.

As for Gwynnie, the blonde beauty had a similar situation happen. The Oscar winner was just 22-years-old in the mid-90s when Weinstein cast her in Emma. During a meeting with the industry big wig at the Peninsula hotel, he put his hands on her and suggested they move things to the bedroom. Gross!

Paltrow told then-boyfriend Brad Pitt what had happened, and the A-list actor confronted Weinstein at a movie premiere. Consequently, Weinstein called Paltrow and screamed at her for exposing his dirty secrets.

"We’re at a point in time when women need to send a clear message that this is over. This way of treating women ends now," she said in a statement accompanying the piece.

The New Yorker just released a bombshell audio recording of Weinstein sexually harassing a Filipina-Italian model named Ambra Battilana Gutierrez back in 2015. How did they get it on tape? Gutierrez was part of a NYPD sting operation. The NYPD was going to arrest him for sexual misconduct, but apparently there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.

Actually hearing him do it is so creepy!

It's been reported that she's actually expecting a little girl with boyfriend Travis Scott, so we don't know what to believe.

Why are Ky and Khloe waiting so long to announce to the world they've got buns in the oven? Well, it might have to do with a super secret pregnancy reveal photoshoot!

Harvey Weinstein Accused Of Rape By Three Women, Including Anthony Bourdain's Girlfriend Asia Argento

Posted on Tue Oct 10th, 2017 9:50am PDT       By X17 Staff

This is going from bad to worse.

Harvey Weinstein was fired after his decades of sexual harassment came to light in a bombshell New York Times expose, but now we're learning that three women allege the studio boss raped them, the New Yorker reports.

One of the women is Anthony Bourdain's actress girlfriend Asia Argento, another is aspiring actress Lucia Evans, and the third has yet to be named. Wow! Not only that, but four more women told the publication that they had experienced unwanted sexual advances and touching by Weinstein. More than 16 former executives and assistants at the Weinstein company confirmed that they had either witnessed or known about the incidents.

Bourdain isn't holding back his opinions on Twitter, and he's praising his lady love for having the courage to come forward.

"@AsiaArgento I am proud and honored to know you. You just did the hardest thing in the world," he wrote in one tweet. "@rosemcgowan has been way out in front of this thing . Took a lot of courage. Can everyone who dismissed @rosemcgowan now do the right thing and go f*ck themselves?" he wrote in another. "Can we use the word “rapist” now? #Weinstein," he continued.

The Parts Unknown host then took aim at Matt Damon and Russell Crowe, who allegedly worked to kill a New York Times piece about Weinstein's sexual misconduct years ago. "Wow. Just, wow. Damon and Crowe and The NYT got some 'splaining to do," he added.

Finally, he had some choice words for Donna Karan, who had the gaul to defend Weinstein and basically say that the women "asked for it."

"To @dkny How many seventeen year olds have you dressed like they are, in your words, "asking for it "? he captioned one of her provocative fashion ads.

We have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg, and it's already horrifying!

It's Good To See Kanye Smiling Again

Posted on Tue Oct 10th, 2017 9:20am PDT       By X17 Staff

It's been a while!

Kanye West couldn't contain his grin after a meeting at the studio with producer Rick Rubin yesterday, and we can't remember the last time we saw him in such a good mood. Ever since his breakdown last October, Yeezy has seemed solemn and zombie-like, but it appears he's getting back to his old self.

Working on new tunes and waiting on baby #3 with Kim is apparently just what the doctor ordered! Kimye is expecting the newest addition to their family this January via surrogate, and 'Ye will have ample time to focus on the baby with his new toned down lifestyle. He skipped Paris and New York fashion weeks this year, and he's largely been staying out of the spotlight as his mental health recovers.

One thing not helping? The evil Internet trolls that are fat shaming him! Multiple headlines have been written about Yeezus' weight gain, but we think he looks great! He's pulling off this Canadian tuxedo with such swag!

George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Winslet And Others Slam Harvey Weinstein Amid Sexual Harassment Scandal, But Donna Karan Defends Him!

Posted on Tue Oct 10th, 2017 8:20am PDT       By X17 Staff

We find it funny that nobody said anything until he lost his job.

George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Winslet and other huge stars are finally breaking their silence on Harvey Weinstein's sexual harassment scandal and subsequent firing, and a lot of them are making it seem as if they hadn't heard the rumors about the power producer, even though it was an open secret in Hollywood for years!

"It’s indefensible. That’s the only word you can start with. Harvey’s admitted to it, and it’s indefensible. I’ve known Harvey for 20 years. He gave me my first big break as an actor in films on From Dusk Till Dawn, he gave me my first big break as a director with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. We’ve had dinners, we’ve been on location together, we’ve had arguments. But I can tell you that I’ve never seen any of this behavior — ever," George Clooney told The Daily Beast.

Kate Winslet is equally as outraged!

"The fact that these women are starting to speak out about the gross misconduct of one of our most important and well regarded film producers is incredibly brave and has been deeply shocking to hear. The way Harvey Weinstein has treated these vulnerable, talented young women is NOT the way women should ever EVER deem to be acceptable or commonplace in ANY workplace,” Winslet said in a statement to Variety.

"I have no doubt that for these women this time has been, and continues to be extremely traumatic. I fully embrace and salute their profound courage, and I unequivocally support this level of very necessary exposure of someone who has behaved in reprehensible and disgusting ways. His behaviour is without question disgraceful and appalling and very, very wrong. I had hoped that these kind of stories were just made up rumours, maybe we have all been naïve. And it makes me so angry. There must be ‘no tolerance’ of this degrading, vile treatment of women in ANY workplace anywhere in the world," she added.

Here are some other celeb reactions:
Jennifer Lawrence: "I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behavior. I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting. My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward."
Olivia Wilde: "Let's be clear. What Harvey Weinstein did to those women was nothing short of abuse. I am disturbed, and disgusted. It's appalling. Though I never witnessed it, I stand in solidarity with his victims, and hope their bravery sends a loud message to all abusers of power. The victim blaming needs to stop. As does the shaming of women who didn't come forward earlier. They spoke, and we are here to listen."
Jessica Chastain: " I was warned from the beginning. The stories were everywhere. To deny that is to create an environment for it to happen again.”
Mark Ruffalo: "To be clear what Harvey Weinstein did was a disgusting abuse of power and horrible. I hope we are now seeing the beginning of the end of these abuses."
Meryl Streep: "The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those whose good and worthy causes he supported. The intrepid women who raised their voices to expose this abuse are our heroes.”
Judi Dench: "Whilst there is no doubt that Harvey Weinstein has helped and championed my career for the past 20 years, I was completely unaware of these offences which are, of course, horrifying, and I offer my sympathy to those who have suffered, and wholehearted support to those who have spoken out.”
Lena Dunham: "The reason I am zeroing in on the men is that they have the least to lose and the most power to shift the narrative, and are probably not dealing with the same level of collective and personal trauma around these allegations. But here we are, days later, waiting for Mr. Weinstein’s most powerful collaborators to say something. Anything. It wouldn’t be just a gift to the women he has victimized, but a message to the women who are watching our industry closely. They need a signal that we do not approve of the abuse of power and hatred of women that is the driving force behind this kind of behavior.”
America Ferrara: "This abuse of power must be called out, however powerful the abuser, and we must publicly stand with those brave enough to come forward.”
Julianne Moore: "Coming forward about sexual abuse and coercion is scary and women have nothing to be gained by personally doing so. But through their bravery we move forward as a culture and I think them. Stand with @AshleyJudd @rosemcgowan and others.”

Designer Donna Karan, however, came to Weinstein's defense, and actually suggested that perhaps his accusers were "asking" for it!

"How do we display ourselves? How do we present ourselves as women? What are we asking? Are we asking for it by presenting all the sensuality and sexuality? You look at everything all over the world today, how women are dressing and what they’re asking by just presenting themselves the way they do. What are they asking for? Trouble," she told the Daily Mail during an interview at the CinéFashion Film Awards in L.A. on Sunday.

Of course, she got MAJOR backlash, and was quick to apologize.

"[I] made a statement that was not representative of how I feel or what I believe. My statements were taken out of context and do not represent how I feel about the current situation concerning Harvey Weinstein. I believe that sexual harassment is NOT acceptable and this is an issue that MUST be addressed once and for all regardless of the individual. I am truly sorry to anyone that I offended and everyone that has ever been a victim," she said in a statement to Us Weekly.

We bet Weinstein wishes this was just a bad movie!
