We were pretty shocked when we heard the news that Christina Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman have been separated for the past few months, but Christina just confirmed the split and released the following statement: "Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever."

After examining pictures of the couple since July, it's starting to make a lot more sense that the 5 year marriage between the pop superstar and the music executive had become increasingly strained in recent months. In the late spring and early summer, the couple stepped out plenty of times for dinner, and on August 9, we snapped the two embracing and sharing a kiss after lunch in Los Angeles, but Christina's wedding ring was noticeably absent. We haven't photographed the couple together since then, and any time we've seen Jordan he's with Max, and Christina is either with Max or flying solo, usually for a night out.

Just days after the couple were photographed sharing what was their final public embrace, we spotted a totally glammed up Christina at BOA in West Hollywood, and a few weeks after that she headed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with girlfriends Nicole Richie and Samantha Ronson. I love a house filled with people and the energy that comes. I relish when people come into town and visit and share new experiences."

Ben Harper may have filed for divorce from his wife Laura Dern just last week, but according to court docs, they've actually been separated since New Year's day.

Dern and Harper married right before Christmas day in 2005, so that means their marriage lasted just a little over four years.

And despite the fact that they've been together for almost a decade, Harper doesn't want to pay Dern spousal support.
