Mel Gibson was quite contrite in an e-mail to his ex, Oksana Grigorieva, written the morning after he allegedly hit Oksana twice, knocking out some of her teeth.

“Could you please call me. I want to tell you how unspeakably sorry I am,” Mel wrote in an e-mail now in the hands of the authorities, reports Radar.

That same morning, in a separate e-mail, Mel wrote, “How’s your tooth?”

There was some question as to the validity of a photo taken of Oksana with her front teeth knocked out just days after the alleged fight, but if this e-mail is found to be authentic, it definitely strengthens Oksana's claims!

The two have been locked in a bitter custody fight that has now expanded to claims of abuse on his part and extortion on hers.

The drama over the Idol judging panel reached a fever pitch this week, when Ellen Degeneres announced she was quitting American Idol, and now new reports claim that judge Kara DioGuardi has been fired and that the seats left vacant by Cowell, Degeneres and DioGuardi will be filled by Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler!

Deadline Hollywood reports that Jennifer Lopez has signed a contract this week to take over after Ellen bowed out, saying "it hasn't been fun." Although this is quite the surprise, we think Lopez, who has experience as triple-threat performer, singing, acting AND dancing, is a brilliant replacement!

But possibly even more shocking is the announcement that after everyone from Elton John to Justin Timberlake has been mentioned to take over for Simon Cowell, the frontrunner now seems to be Aerosmith's Steven Tyler!

Hmmm... not quite sure how that will work out but we're hopeful.

Yesterday Mark Wahlberg was presented with a star on the Walk Of Fame in Hollywood, and the hunky actor was joined by wife Rhea Durham and his four darling children. With movies like The Italian Job, I Heart Huckabees, The Departed and The Lovely Bones (we're willing to overlook Max Payne, just 'cause we love him) it's about time he got some recognition!

After the ceremony Mark chatted with Access Hollywood, and the subject of Lindsay Lohan came up. Mark, (who spent time in jail for assault as a teenager) told the show, “I just wish the best for her and her family, anyone who’s incarcerated — that they turn their life around and start doing the right thing. Anybody that’s having any kind of trouble and needs saving I try to pray for.”
