Janet Jackson is the new face of Blackglama ... a company that claims they are "world renowned for their unbridled luxury and elegance" ... and fur. Pamela Anderson, an animal rights activist, is not impressed.

In an interview with Out Magazine, Anderson had this to say about Jackson's Blackglama What Becomes A Legend Most? fur campaign:

"It's disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don't know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it's sad."

As for why the company chose Janet, Blackglama CEO, Joe Morelli, released this statement:

"For decades, Blackglama has represented the finest, most exclusive mink in the world. Much like Blackglama, Janet Jackson has occupied a similar position in her respective industry. Janet is an icon in the world of music and entertainment, a true legend. She represents everything this storied campaign embodies. Janet is to entertainment what Blackglama is to luxury."

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is furious with Jackson's participation in Blackglama's campaign. Dan Matthews, PETA VP, fired off the following letter:

Dear Janet,

Greetings from PETA. I was disappointed to read that you're in a campaign promoting fur. We met years ago at your Velvet Rope release party at Sony Studios, and you told me that you appreciated PETA's work and were completely fur-free. (Your brother Michael, who I met a few times, was also a big animal lover of course, and he appreciated our efforts to expose cruelty to animals). You and I spoke at length about the fur issue. You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message. You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?

Model Gisele Bundchen posed for Blackglama and later publicly regretted promoting fur. I'm hoping that you'll do the same and be a good role model against needless violence and killing. If you still have the coats from your shoot, please consider donating them to PETA's fur-coat giveaway program. We'll distribute them to homeless women and children and refugees—those who have no other means of staying warm.

"What becomes a legend most" is extending compassion to include all who are capable of suffering. I've admired your grace from Good Times to your family's recent hard times. I sincerely hope that the events of recent years haven't hardened your heart to the suffering of others.

Christina Milian may be going through a very public and painful breakup with her husband of less-than-a-year but it looks like a girl's night out with injured gal pal Serena Williams at Madeo was just the dose of medicine she needed to start smiling again.

Peaches Geldof and her hot older man Eli Roth stopped by the Arclight in Hollywood last night to see Salt, but it sounds like Peaches was not impressed.

She later Tweeted the following: "Saw Salt tonight. It was painful. I know movies are supposed to be fantasy but this was just unbelievable, badly scripted crap."

Damn, girl! Kinda harsh, right? But everyone has a right to their opinion. Even Peaches.

Heidi Montag and her one-time BFF Jen Bunney will not be starring in their own reality show after all. According to Bunney, Heidi "doesn't want to do it right now." However Miss Bunney, who briefly appeared on The Hills, is planning to star on the small screen all by herself.

Bunney tells X17online exclusively:

"I've already met with some amazing networks and so far it looks like it's gonna air this winter or early January."

As for the name of her upcoming show involving her last name "Bunney," she tells us:

"Haha! No, but that's funny. Hopefully a more general name to make room for other characters, and of course, allow Heidi to come back and for the show to focus on her as much as she wants."

Jen also clears up the rumors that she and Heidi are at odds. She adds:

"We are fine. She is just doing her own thing right now and I'm doing mine. I understand why she doesn't want to do the show. I wouldn't either if I was going through what she is with the marital stuff."

Of course, she's referring to Heidi's marriage issues with now estranged-hubby Spencer Pratt. Miss Bunney also says she's not in any way jealous of Heidi's friendship with the Shannon twins. She tells us, "They are sweethearts."

So what's up with the Shannon twins doing a reality show with Heidi? Their rep tells X17online, "Nope, it's not happening anymore."

Seems that these girls have more drama off-screen than on-screen.

Jennifer Coolidge was practically busting out of her dress after leaving her audience (including SATC's Cynthia Nixon and girlfriend Christine Marinoni) busting up laughing during her standup show last night in NYC.

In this case, we definitely think the actress, who's played the MILF in American Pie and Jane Lynch's girlfriend in Best in Show, should definitely quit her day job ... and become a full-time comedienne!

Mel Gibson met with the Sheriff's department on Sunday to further his case against his ex Oksana Grigorieva, whom Gibson accused of trying to extort millions of dollars from him in exchange for keeping the now infamous tapes private.

Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore confirms to X17online that the meeting was strictly about the extortion case. "He claims he's the victim of extortion," Whitmore said, adding that no discussion of the alleged abuse took place during the Sunday sit-down.

Whitmore had no comment about Mel's demeanor during the meeting, but we bet he was on much better behavior than we've heard him in the past!

Mel and Oksana are currently locked in a bitter custody fight over their 7-month-old daughter Lucia that has expanded into allegations of physical abuse and extortion.
