In between Dancing With The Stars performances and rehearsals, Kate Gosselin flew to New York to hit out at her ex Jon, who's taking her back to court to gain primary physical custody of their eight kids amid claims that she is an absentee mom.

"I've got to work harder now than ever because I am a single mom," Kate said on Tuesday's Today show. "In my heart I'm always in my kitchen, baking and cooking for my kids, and I'll always be there. It's a struggle to be here [in New York], to be anywhere. The emotion that you see is because I would rather be at home with them." But her new status as a single working parent makes that impossible at times. "I have to work. I have to provide for them. And it's a struggle that every working mom, especially single moms, go through, and I'm really feeling it now, and it's really hard."

Kate says that despite her hectic, working mom schedule, she's able to make the most of the little time that she has with her kids.

"I make the most of every minute I have with them," she said. "When I'm home, we make those little spots of time really big in our memories."

In addition to appearing on Dancing With the Stars, where she won positive reviews for the first time since she started dancing, yet still earned the lowest score of the night, Kate is currently promoting her new book, I Just Want You to Know, a collection of letters to her eight children who are currently struggle with their parents' divorce.

Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner are heating things up. The duo have been inseparable lately, and a source close to the couple tells X17online exclusively:

"He's totally into her. That's kind of surprising because Avril is totally not his type. But it's definitely not a publicity stunt."

As for why this unlikely duo have hit it off, our source adds, "She's not high maintenance so he can be chill and not deal with a playmate kind of girl." X17online has learned that Brody has already taken Avril to meet his stepdad, music producer David Foster, and "she fits right in."

Brody recently ended his 15-month relationship with Playboy playmate and The Hills hottie, Jayde Nicole. As for his playmate ex, "Everyone agrees that Jayde was a total nightmare."

We'll see if Brody turns out to be the perfect Sk8er Boi that Avril's been searching for.

The new Oprah Winfrey biography paints our beloved Oprah as a liar, a lesbian and a prostitute who bent the truth about her past because it was less "boring" than reality.

Writer Kitty Kelley claims that Oprah lied about growing up in filth and poverty -- in fact, some of her relatives even describe her as being "spoiled!"

Oprah's also gone to great lengths to cover up her sexuality. From being so promiscuous to the point of prostitution (Oprah family members say she was a teen prostitute) to engaging in a years-long relationship with Stedman Graham just for the sake of appearances -- and to hide her numerous lesbian crushes (including a serious one on Diane Sawyer) and relationships. In fact, the book claims she even paid an ex $50,000 to keep quiet about her girl-on-girl affairs!

Oprah's relationship with her mother is so chilly, that Oprah won't even let the woman have her phone number. Perhaps that's retaliation for the fact that, as the book claims, her mother won't reveal the identity of Oprah's real father!

Wow, so many shocking things about America's treasure. Sure, some of these things could be exaggerations and fabrications, but there's always a hint of truth in everything...
