Last night Miley Cyrus celebrated her 17th birthday at the Canal Room in NYC, and the teen queen had a surprise 80s themed party complete with a massive custom cake.

Miley enjoyed a performance by the cast of Broadway's Rock of Ages, and when it was time to blow out her 17 candles, she was presented with a purple custom-designed cake made by TLC's Cake Boss Buddy Valastro. A source close to the Disney star tells People, "They didn't want a girly girl cake. It totally fit the theme. It was really awesome."

Miley was joined by her family, friends and rumored boyfriend (and Last Song co-star) Liam Hemsworth. Hmm, think she got a birthday kiss later that evening?

"Just friends"? Come on guys, it's pretty obvious that you're trying to pull a Robsten on us!

After a rumored hookup and numerous public outings (most recently at the GQ party last week) True Blood stud Alex Skarsgard and Kate Bosworth went to the Arclight to catch a screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox last night. Sure, they recently starred in Straw Dogs together, but energy between these two looks more romantic than platonic!

So what do you think of this couple? Really really ridiculously good looking (hey, Alex WAS in Zoolander), or does this hunky vamp need to find someone his own size? He's 6'4" and she's 5'5", so this is a slightly awkward match! Of course, when we caught up with the couple last night, they totally denied being an item...typical!

An X17 photographer on the scene tells X17online exclusively, "Even though Kate denied that she's dating Alex, they definitely seemed pretty lovey dovey before they spotted us!"

But is there any change Kate is stepping out with Alex to quash those Chris Martin cheating rumors? We just hope she's not playing him!

Taylor Swift beat out Michael Jackson, Lady GaGa, Eminem and the Kings Of Leon to win Best Artist at the American Music Awards.

Swift swept the awards, winning all five categories she was nominated for (Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock, Favorite Female Artist Country, Favorite Album Pop/Rock, and Favorite Album Country.)

Michael Jackson won posthumous awards for Best Soul/R&B Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, which were accepted by his brother Jermaine.

Should they have given Best Artist to Michael (who ended up winning more AMAs than any artist in history)? Or did Taylor deserve it? And WWKS? (What would Kanye say?)

It's the first time he's appearing on an awards show to promote his first album, and Glambert shows up in a simple black suit with a white shirt.

Don't get us wrong, we're digging the skinny Elvis look, but is this the same guy who posed for his album cover looking like this?

J.Lo was set to return to her Jenny From The Block glory with a new single and a performance at the AMAs tonight.

Donning a boxing robe, Jennifer strode out onto the stage (a boxing ring, natch) looking like she was ready to kill it, and indeed it seemed like we hat the old J.Lo back!

Poor thing took a spill jumping down off of a dancer's back, but she didn't let it faze her, she got right back up and finished her show!

I guess that's why she decided not to perform her single Louboutins in Louboutins?

Now this is an odd couple!

I can't imagine what a hip-swiveling She-Wolf would have in common with a Disney Darling (other than the fact that they're both Latina), but they do look totes adorable together!

Fergie wasn't a solo act on the red carpet of the AMAs, she arrived with her band, the Black Eyed Peas, who won the Best Pop/Rock Group award tonight, but her reportedly philandering hubby was nowhere to be found!

Ya'd think after the show they put on in New York last week, he'd wanna be seen in the spotlight with her, but maybe she told him to stay away to keep the focus on her and her music, not her husband!

For her first award show red carpet appearance since "the incident", Rihanna donned a black & white Marchesa gown with laser cut-outs and aside from the white shoes, the fashion risk-taker looks pretty good!

We're loving the drape of the skirt, showing off her toned legs in hot-pants, but the reason this look really works is because Ri-Ri is working it!
