New docs reveal that Swiss officials alerted the US to Polanski's plans to visit Zurich, which is what ultimately led to his arrest.

The AP reports that the Swiss asked the US Office of International Affairs if they wanted Polanski arrested, and after the Los Angeles' DA's office put together a warrant, Polanski was arrested September 26th as he arrived in Zurich to receive a lifetime achievement award at the city's film festival.

It's unclear what prompted Swiss officials to act on this visit, as Polanski had made the trip to Switzerland several times before without incident.

Requests for release from prison due to health reasons were recently denied, and Polanski remains in jail where he's awaiting almost certain extradition to the US.

Britney Spears and manager/lover Jason Trawick certainly aren't as hot and heavy as some of the pop star's other relationships, but maybe that's a good thing!

We've heard that Brit's dad Jamie approves of Jason, and it looks like mother Lynne Spears is in agreement too!

A source tells Us Weekly, "Lynne said, 'He's the kind of man you would dream of your daughter marrying. The kids love him, and he's stable.' Most everyone else abandoned her, but Jason refused to be completely cut out of Britney's life. He's very protective of her."

The source continued, "[Britney] has been honest with Jason about what she’s been through in a way that I don’t think she’s been with other people, and he always preferred to not sugarcoat the harsh reality of what happened to her. He tells her when she should take responsibility for her own actions."

Hmm, sounds like more of a parent than a guy who's husband material, but maybe that's what Britney wants?

Yesterday, rumors swirled over the internets that Kanye West had tragically died in a car accident, but never fear Kanye fans, it was just a hoax.

However, after storming the stage at the VMAs, his reputation is on life-support, and the release of a short film shot by Spike Jonze showing a drunk and out-of-control Kanye who pukes blood and cuts out a furry little demon from his stomach didn't help much either.

After posting the short, We Were Once A Fairytale, on his blog, Kanye must've realized the further damage seeing him drunk, belligerent and posessed could do, so he took the vid down, with a note that simply read "Sorry I had to take it down :("

Kanye, if you want to repair your broken rep, perhaps post a vid of you playing with furry little puppies instead of exorcising furry little demons!

Speaking of walking sex, we spotted Russell Brand out today at the lingerie/sex toy store, Coco de Mer. Mr. Loverboy was stocking up on goodies for his girl Katy Perry to the tune of $1200!

A source tells X17online.com: "Russell wasn't too funny or humorous about it - he was pretty straightforward in choosing what he wanted for Katy. He said it was for her birthday coming up. He did snicker once or twice when he eyes crossed a d*#do or something but otherwise he was quite a serious guy."

In fact, Russell was annoyed by our cameras capturing his risque shopping spree so he left the store empty-handed and told salespeople his assistant would come back to collect the booty (the lingerie and toys, that is - Russell was off getting some other booty, most likely!).

So, um, Katy, sorry to ruin the birthday surprise, but it looks like your man's got some romantic plans for this October 25th!

Just six weeks after giving birth to Sparrow James Midnight Madden, proud parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are showing him off in the latest issue of People magazine.

Nicole tells the mag, "I couldn't be happier. The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I'm right where I belong." And Nicole isn't the only one going gaga over her newborn son! Nicole says, "[Harlow] just loves him so much," and Joel added, "She's very gentle with him." Awww!

Of course, the adorable Harlow is also in the pictures, and we're happy to report that little Sparrow is just as darling as his older sister. In fact, he looks like a miniature version of his daddy! We're definitely gushing over these beautiful shots, but we gotta wonder how much the Richie-Maddens got paid for this and how many copies this cover will help sell ... we're guessing a lot!

And then there's the rumor that Nicole Richie might now be Nicole Madden! Star magazine reports that Joel and Nicole exchanged vows during an "intimate at-home ceremony on October 14 with Joel's brother and bandmate Benji as a witness." The mag reports that Nicole and Joel were married with 45,000 other people worldwide as part of a mass wedding by the Unification Church. Hmm, really?

Joel denies the marriage reports, as he wrote on Good Charlotte's website, "I keep getting emails from old friends and family asking about a wedding. NO we didn't get married." I guess we'll have to take his word for it then!

The Puerto Rican pop star wrote "Chilling" on his Twitter page next to the photo. Soooo adorable!

Madonna will return to Malawi, her daughter Mercy's home country, to meet the girl's father James, according to reports.

Apparently the Queen of Pop is hoping to expose Mercy to her native culture and to learn more about the country herself in addition to spending time with the girl's dad, James Kambewa, a 24 year-old porter.

"She realizes her kids need a sense of home and she's determined to do all she can to give that to them. She doesn't want to deny Mercy anything in life - and that includes meeting her dad if that's possible," a source tells the UK's Mirror.

Madonna's adopted son David Banda, also from Malawai, will accompany the two on the trip and the trio will meet with the country's president, Dr. Bingu Wa Mutharika, according to the report.

In case you missed it, our little LiLo flew to the Big Apple to attend the Whitney Museum Gala from last night and, while her pink fur coat was cute and her dress sexy and flirtatious, our biggest problem was with her face.
