Hometown Memorial Planned For Michael Jackson

MJACKSON011604_001x.jpg Michael Jackson's hometown of Gary, Indiana, is asking the family to send him there, according to a spokesperson for the mayor. CNN reports that Mayor Rudy Clay has been in contact with the Jackson family, and he told the Chicago radio station WGN that he expects that Jackson's body will be taken to Gary for a memorial service he is planning next week.

"I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary, Indiana," Clay said yesterday. "Now, it may not happen, but I believe it will." It would be "a memorial that's fit for the prince of peace and a memorial that's fit for Gary, Indiana's favorite son, the greatest entertainer that ever lived," Clay added.

The Jackson memorial service is set for July 10 at U.S. Steel Works ballpark in Gary, and if any of this actually goes through, a burial site for the singer could be near a proposed Jackson family museum and a performing arts center.

Spokeswoman Lalosa Burns said, "The mayor had spoken with a contact of the Jackson family and expressed our interest in having that to be a part of the history of this great family. We have not received confirmation on that." Jackson's father, Joe, visited the city last year and talked with Clay about a Jackson museum, Burns said.

Think the Jackson family will actually agree to this?

Pharmaceutical Delivery Man Talks About The Deliveries He Made To Jackson's Home!

Posted on Wed Jul 1st, 2009 8:55am PDT       By X17 Staff

X17 photogs caught up with a delivery man for Mickey Fine Pharmacy (ironic name, eh?), and he confirmed that he made numerous deliveries to Michael's home over the years. He said he couldn't talk about the drugs Michael ordered, because apparently the king of pop used a handful of different names, but it sure sounds like Jacko gave them a lot of business!

Oh yeah, speaking of good business, Dr. Klein was spotted leaving the building in Rolls Royce...how much longer do you think he'll be rolling around town in that thing?

Lindsay's Birthday Party? Or A Desperate Attempt To Rake In Some Extra Dough?

According to sources for the NY Post, Lindsay Lohan was paid a whopping $70,000 by the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to host a pre-birthday celebration at the hotel's Wet Republic pool last weekend. That's not too shabby, right?

Well, those close to the actress tell the Post that the event was less of a celebration and more of a desperate attempt to pull in some extra cash! One insider said, "None of her really close friends were there. The only person who was even known was Brittny Gastineau." Yikes! What happened to being an A-list, in demand superstar? Oh...right.

Insiders report that the always erratic indecisive Linds changed into five different bathing suits during the course of the day, and while she didn't drink at the party, she was overheard complaining about the bad publicity surrounding the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry that went missing from that recent Elle magazine photo shoot. Sounds just about right...

Michael Jackson Wrapped Secret Film Project Two Weeks Before He Died

Posted on Wed Jul 1st, 2009 8:10am PDT       By X17 Staff

mjacksonpart4042209x.jpg Two weeks before his death, Michael Jackson wrapped up work on a secret film titled the "Dome Project," which could be the final finished video piece overseen by the pop icon, reports The Associated Press.

Jackson was apparently preparing to use the video as a part of a high-tech show that would play during his London concert series, where 3D images would flash behind him as he performed on stage.

Sources tell the AP that it was a five-week project filmed at Culver Studios, and four sets were built for Jackson's production, including a cemetery recalling his 1983 "Thriller" video. In addition to the cemetery, one set was draped in black with an oversized portrait of Jackson in his "Thriller" werewolf costume, while another set was designed to look like a jungle, and a fourth set was built to look like a construction site. A source tells the AP that one scene filmed on the construction site set included "scantily clad male dancers wearing carpenter's belts." Oh boy.

The project was shot from June 1-9, with Jackson on the set most of those days. According to one source close to production, Jackson would arrive in a caravan of SUVs with a bunch of beefy security guards in tow. Jackson "introduced himself to workers on the set and walked with a spring in his step but at one point needed assistance as he descended steps off a stage."

Vince Pace, whose company provided cameras for the shoot, told the AP, "It was a groundbreaking effort. To think that Michael's gone now, that's probably the last documented footage of him to be shot in that manner."

Should be interesting to see!

Yesterday afternoon the memorial service was held for Farrah Fawcett at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, and nearly 200 close friends and family paid tribute to the iconic actress.

A bagpiper played "Amazing Grace" to start the service, and afterwards Farrah's son Redmond gave the first reading of the afternoon. Farrah's best friend Alana Stewart and oncologist Dr. Lawrence Piro delivered eulogies, while Ryan O'Neal and Redmond served as pallbearers. Stars such as Joan Collins, Marla Maples, Tatum O'Neal, Farrah's ex-husband Lee Majors, Cheryl Tiegs and Dick Van Patten were also in attendance.

Despite the heartache of losing the Charlie's Angels star, those close to Farrah were able to look back on her life and remember the things that Farrah would have wanted. "[Farrah] never felt sorry for herself during her illness," Stewart said. "She fought cancer furiously...she always seemed so indestructible."

Powerful Intravenous Sedative Found In Jackson's House...

Posted on Tue Jun 30th, 2009 10:29pm PDT       By X17 Staff

mjackson061709x.jpg

It's no secret that Michael Jackson was on numerous medications, but was a powerful sedative to blame for his shocking death last week?

According to the Associated Press, Jackson repeatedly begged his caretakers for Diprivan (aka Propofol) despite warnings it could be harmful, and it's now being reported that the drug was found in his Holmby Hills estate after he died.

Cherilyn Lee, a registered nurse who worked closely with the pop icon said that she repeatedly rejected Jackson's demands for the drug, which is a powerful intravenous anesthetic widely used in operating rooms to induce unconsciousness. However, it appears as though Jackson found another way to get it, and we have to wonder if he might still be alive today if he hadn't gotten his hands on the drug.

Dr. John Dombrowski, a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Anesthesiologists told the AP that an overdose that stops breathing may result in a buildup of carbon dioxide, causing the heart to beat erratically, leading to cardiac arrest. Add painkillers (such as Demorol, which Jackson was also taking) to the mix, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Lee received a call from a Jackson staffer just four days before his death, and she tells the AP:

"[The staffer] called and was very frantic and said, 'Michael needs to see you right away.' I said, 'What's wrong?' And I could hear Michael in the background... 'One side of my body is hot, it's hot, and one side of my body is cold. It's very cold.' I said, 'Tell him he needs to go the hospital. I don't know what's going on, but he needs to go to the hospital...right away.' At that point I knew that somebody had given him something that hit the central nervous system. He was in trouble Sunday and he was crying out."

However, Jackson did not go to the hospital, and while an official cause of death still hasn't been determined, it sure looks like this might have been the medication that pushed the reportedly frail Jackson over the edge....

X17 XCLUSIVE - Preparations Under Way At Neverland

We reported earlier that the King of Pop will return to Neverland Ranch, his Santa Barbara estate, on Thursday morning for a public viewing the day later. (A private service is scheduled for Sunday, two days after that, as July 4th falls in between.)

X17 photogs just got off a 2-hour flight to the ranch and we can confirm that preparations are indeed underway... An X17 photographer tells us:

"There were at least thirty workers preparing the grounds for the big event. There were landscapers outside, people coming in and out, cleaning and preparing the house. And there was a police cruiser on the property, monitoring the perimeter."

Sounds like a lot of activity going on! While we understand the need for fans to say their goodbyes to MJ, we can't help but wonder... how will this all go down? The area is certain to be flooded with people wanting to pay their respects - but can security keep the chaos under control? And should such a viewing even have been allowed? And what about that 30-car LAPD escort just to get the body up there? Are us taxpayers paying for that?!

Our photographer adds: "All the carnival rides have been removed. The grass was finally being watered. The place was bustling with activity but it was definitely coming together - this old, dead property is coming alive again."

Neverland is about to turn into Graceland! Stay tuned for pix and more info, coming ASAP!
