As expected, T.I. has been formally sentenced to serve a year and a day in jail for trying to buy unregistered guns.

The Grammy-nominated rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was sentenced after pleading guilty to attempting to buy the weapons, which he claimed were for self defense.

"Today I would like to say thank-you to some, and apologize to all," the 28-year-old said.

"Everything I learned was through trial and error. I've learned lessons in my life to put in my music so people won't make the same mistakes as I."

T.I. will begin serving his sentence at a yet-to-be determined facility within the next two months.

John Mayer performed at the "One Splendid Evening" event in San Pedro, California last night, and this is his first appearance as a single man. With Jen 3,000 miles away shooting "The Baster," we're thinking their supposed "break" might be more of a long term thing.

Then again, these two can't seem to stay away from each other, so we have a sneaking suspicion that this isn't the end...

With no hood and no hair to hide her face, we actually spotted a small smile on Jen's face!
