X17online is trying to get some answers on what exactly happened to cause the apparent arrest of at least one photographer outside of the B2V salon yesterday (where Britney was getting her hair done.)
After leaving several messages with the West Hollywood Police Department last night and today, putting in calls to the LA Sheriff's Department, and getting bounced around from person to person, we finally spoke with Watch Commander Lt. Hoening of the WeHo Department (who was NOT on duty last night). He had these answers to our questions:
- Q. What happened yesterday at the B2V salon last night when Britney Spears was there?
A. I have no idea.
Q. What laws were photogs breaking by standing on the sidewalk (moving around on the sidewalk)?
A. You'll have to ask them.
Q. Were any photographers arrested?
A. Two.
Q. What happened, exactly? Why were photographers handcuffed and held in police cars?
A. It's standard procedure during an arrest to place a suspect in handcuffs.
Q. TMZ is reporting that one of their photographers was taken to jail for 6 hours -- what was he held on?
A. You'll have to ask TMZ.
Q. Will we see more of this happening -- police 'cracking down' on paparazzi photographers doing their jobs?
A. I have no idea.
In our experience, the police usually do a pretty good job of enforcing the laws on the books, but "cracking down" on the paps (those are the media's words, not the police or sheriff's departments') without squashing First Amendment Rights may be a bit tricky!
