Shia LaBeouf's taken some serious heat for his scandalous wreck last weekend - but Michael Bay says Shia doesn't deserve any of it!Bay: "The Charges Are Gonna Go Away"
Bay, Shia's director on the Transformers movies, told Access Hollywood that the actor "was not drunk" the night of his crash.
"He was drinking hours and hours before," the director alleged. "You're gonna see - [the DUI charges are] gonna go away."
Police told X17 on Sunday that LaBeouf "exhibited outward signs of intoxication" at the scene of the accident.
Bay: Shia's No Bad Boy!
Bay also praised Shia's maturity, describing the actor as "really [having] his head together" and reminding Access that Shia's only 22.
"He's doing a great job on this movie," Bay said. "He's really matured since the last one and I love working with him."
In fact, Bay's esteem for Shia is so high that he's even considering rewriting Transformers 2 to accommodate Shia's injuries!
"His two fingers are pretty mashed, but we're figuring a way to shoot around it, kind of write it into the story," he said.
Warned By Bay?
Ironically, Bay claims to have voiced concerns about Shia's road safety days earlier when the actor treated himself to a new motorcycle.
"I [said] 'Dude! You cannot ride that motorcycle! If you crash, you put 1,500 people out of work!'", Bay said. "He said, 'Okay, I won't ride it, I won't ride it, I'll just drive my truck.'"
Good thing Bay was looking out for Shia's health - as bad as Shia's wreck was, it would have been a million times worse on a motorcycle!
